On January 15th, seventy nations of the world summoned in Paris, France to vote on a resolution of the Israeli/ Palestinian conflict (two-state solution). Although the seventy nations unanimously voted to create a “Palestinian state,” the conference did not immediately recognize it, but instead, agreed to work toward “a negotiated solution with two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security.” In other words, the seventy nations or global community has clearly reaffirmed their “stiff-necked” commitment to a Palestinian state. So, what does the Holy Bible, God’s living Word, proclaim about the land that Israel occupies? Did Noah place a prophetic curse on the land that has echoed throughout history unto today, even so, forevermore? Before we discover Noah’s prophetic curse, let us understand the prophetic significance of the seventy nations.
The gathering of the seventy nations on January 15th is biblical and very prophetic, as the number seventy is considered the number of the “restoration of all things,” especially in relation to the nations.
In his book, “Number in Scripture,” E.W. Bullinger writes, “7 x 10 signifies perfect spiritual order and carried out with all spiritual power and significance. Both spirit and power are greatly emphasized.” This signification and restoration go hand-in-hand since the restoration of all things signifies perfect spiritual order and is brought about by all spiritual power. When God’s perfect spiritual order comes, all things will be restored back to God (1 Corinthians 15:20-28). Assuredly, “for from Him and through Him and to Him are all things” (Romans 11:36). Amen!
The number seventy appears several times in specific, critical moments in history. In summary, let us review a few examples.
- The first “seventy” that is mentioned in the Holy Bible is in Genesis 10, the “table of nations,” where it is recorded that seventy descendants of Noah repopulated the earth after the flood. These seventy nations represented all the nations of the world and their restoration after God’s judgment of the Great Flood (Genesis 6-8).
- In Genesis 46:26-27, seventy persons of the house of Jacob went into Egypt. The nation of Israel eventually came forth from this group, so the number signifies the beginning of a “new” nation.
- In Numbers 11:16, while in the desert, God gave Moses the command to choose seventy elders to help him judge the nation of Israel. Thus, the number also signifies judgment of the nations.
- The kingdom of Judah was given the iron yoke of judgment (Jeremiah 28:13-14) and exiled into Babylonian captivity for seventy years (Jeremiah 25:11), which was also the length of years for the Babylonian Empire (609-539BC). At the end of the seventy years, Judah was allowed to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the city and its temple (Jeremiah 25:12-14; Daniel 9:2; Ezra 1; Zechariah 7:5); Thus, the number also signifies restoration, as a nation was restored.
- In Daniel 9:24, God’s messenger Gabriel told Daniel that seventy weeks were set for his people to finish the transgression of their sins. After the seventy weeks, which the 70th week will conclude with Messiah’s second coming, the nation of Israel will be restored for Messiah’s millennial reign.
These few examples reveal that the number seventy is very prophetic, and it is associated with Israel and the nations. The prophetic significance of the number seventy indicates future judgment on Israel and the nations, with their ultimate restoration at Messiah’s second coming (Zechariah 12,13,14, Matthew 24-25), which correlates with the time of Jacob’s Trouble (Jeremiah 30, Revelation 6-19) or as it is called today, the Seven-Year tribulation period.
However, there are two other significant references. The primary one is discovered in the seven-day, Feast of Tabernacles (Tishri 15-21/Oct).
Numbers 29:12, “Then on the fifteenth day of the seventh month (Tishri 15) you shall have a holy convocation (rehearsal/assembly); you shall do no laborious work, and you shall observe a feast to the LORD for seven days.”
In summary of Numbers 29:13-32, which is the ceremony of sacrifice for the seventy nations are as follows:
- 1st Day – 13 Bulls
- 2nd Day – 12 Bulls
- 3rd Day – 11 Bulls
- 4th Day – 10 Bulls
- 5th Day – 9 Bulls
- 6th Day – 8 Bulls
- 7th Day – 7 bulls
Total – 70 Bulls for 70 Nations
Please note, each day of the feast the children of Israel would reduce the number of bulls to be sacrificed by one until the seventh day they sacrificed seven bulls. There were a total of seventy bulls sacrificed over this 7-day period. According to the Jewish Talmud, and based on Genesis 10 and Noah’s descendants, these seventy bulls corresponded to the number of the nations in the world. As the ancient wisdom goes, the purpose of these sacrifices during the Feast of Tabernacles was to appeal to God for the restoration of all nations of the world (70), so that the nations could be restored back to God.
Certainly, in those days, if the seventy nations would have understood the “sacrifices” that were made on their behalf for their restoration to God, they would have built walls to protect Jerusalem instead of destroying the holy city. Assuredly, just like in ancient days, if the seventy nations that gathered on Sunday in Paris had wisdom of the Holy Bible, there would have been a meeting of protecting Jerusalem and the Promised Land instead of dividing it.
Isaiah 46:9-10, “Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure.”
The prophet Joel warns the nations about dividing God’s heritage and land.
Joel 3:2, “I will also gather all nations, and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there on account of My people, My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land.”
Additionally, in Luke 10, Messiah sent out seventy of His messengers into the harvest of the world (nations), as a sign that it is God’s plan to restore all the nations (Luke 10). The seventy messengers represent the “messengers” to all seventy nations.
In the book of Acts, Peter reminds us that Messiah’s restoration of all things at the end of the age would include the restoration of the nations.
Acts 3:19-21, “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.”
In other words, God plans to harvest and restore all things to Himself through His Son, Jesus, who has the power to subject all things to Himself (1 Corinthians 15:24-28; Philippians 3:21). Please note, “all things” refers to “all things,” which includes nations and individuals. Certainly, God in Messiah has reconciled all things to Himself on earth and in heaven.
Colossians 1:20, “And by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.” Amen
2 Corinthians 5:18-19, “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.”Amen
Noah’s Prophetic Curse
On January 15th, although the seventy nations of the world came together in the name of “peace” to create a “unified” two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians, it is totally in defiance to God’s everlasting promise of the Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 13,15,17). However, before the Abrahamic Covenant was promised and established with Abraham, Noah prophetically proclaimed a curse, which sequentially, God fulfilled through the Abrahamic Covenant!
Noah’s prophetic curse is proclaimed after the Noahic Covenant was promised by God (Genesis 9). After the declaration of the Noahic Covenant, Noah and his descendants, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, began populating the whole earth. As time passed, Noah became a vineyard farmer and got drunk, becoming naked in his tent (Genesis 9:18-21).
Genesis 9:22-23, “And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside. But Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it on both their shoulders, and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father’s nakedness.”
When we closely examine the text, “Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father,” we find a great revelation. The text is written as, “Ham, the father of Canaan,” because Ham’s son Canaan was the first to see Noah “uncovered,” and then he told Ham, who mocked his father’s nakedness by telling his two brothers Shem and Japheth. The Holy Bible confirms that Canaan was the first to see Noah, because Ham is Noah’s middle son, not youngest, as Japheth is Noah’s youngest.
Genesis 9:24-27, “So Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done to him.”
When the text declares, “Noah knew what his younger son had done to him,” it is referring to Canaan, the youngest son of Ham (Genesis 10:6). In the Tanakh (Old Testament), it was common for a grandfather to call a grandson his son (Please see the genealogy in Luke 3:23-38). Renowned Rabbi Eleazer substantiates this by stating, “Canaan had in fact been the first to see Noah, and had then gone to tell Ham, who then told his brothers in the street.” Also, Philo of Alexandria, a 1st century Jewish philosopher wrote, “Ham and Canaan were equally guilty of the sins against Noah, for the two of them acted foolishly and wrongly and committed other sins.”
After Canaan and Ham’s sin, Noah prophetically cursed the land of Canaan, which would be fulfilled by the Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 13,15,17). Please note, the Abrahamic Covenant is confirmed through the Davidic (2 Samuel 7) and New Covenants (Jeremiah 31:31-40), and all three everlasting covenants will ultimately be fulfilled at Messiah’s second coming and millennial reign! Hallelujah! (Please see Romans 11, Ephesians 2:11-13, and Galatians 3:26-29, for confirmation that Gentiles are “grafted into” these eternal covenants).
Genesis 9:25-27, “Then Noah said: “Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants He shall be to his brethren.” And he said: “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem, and may Canaan be his servant. May God enlarge Japheth, and may he dwell in the tents of Shem; And may Canaan be his servant.”
Noah prophetically cursed the land of Canaan because of Canaan’s sin against him. He prophesies that Canaan and his descendants (Palestinians/Muslims) will serve Shem and his descendants (Israel of God – Believing Jews and Gentiles). Please note, Noah’s son Shem continued the “pure royal lineage” unto Messiah, not Noah’s two other sons, Ham or Japheth (Please see Luke 3:23-38). The God of Shem, which is also spoken as Hashem, is another name for YHVH, the “GREAT I AM,” or the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who is Yeshua (Jesus) (Matthew 22:32).
Because of Noah’s curse on Canaan, the land of Canaan became known as the Promised Land that God promised to Abraham and his descendants (Israel) in the Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 13,15,17), which He also swore through the Davidic (2 Samuel 7) and New Covenants (Jeremiah 31), as well. In other words, God fulfilled Noah’s curse through the everlasting covenants! All three everlasting covenants will be completely fulfilled, which includes Noah’s prophetic curse, at the end of the age, which is Messiah’s second coming and millennial reign. Also, Noah declares, “blessed be the God of Shem and may Canaan be his servant.” This prophecy explains that Canaan and his descendants (Palestinians/Muslims) will eventually serve the God of Shem, who is Yeshua (Jesus), which again will occur at Messiah’s second coming and millennial reign. Assuredly, Canaan and his descendants (Palestinians/Muslims) will serve the God of Shem! Amen!
