On June 7, 1967, Israeli soldiers entered the Lion’s gate (eastern gate) and recaptured the holy city of Jerusalem as their capital. Nineteen short years after becoming a nation again in 1948, Israel conquered Jerusalem in the Six-Day-War and rested on the Sabbath, fulfilling this prophecy on God’s prophetic timeline!
Psalm 102:16, “For the Lord shall build up Zion, He shall appear in His glory.”
Israel defeated five countries in order to win the Six-Day-War; Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon. These five countries had the additional support of Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Kuwait, Pakistan, Morocco, Sudan, PLO, and Tunisia. Only by God Almighty’s divine intervention, prophetic wisdom, and righteous sovereignty can a nation, who only had nineteen years to establish itself and train its own military, defeat all five of those countries. Hallelujah! The prophetic implications of this event cannot be overstated as the children of Israel (Jews) have to control Jerusalem before Messiah’s Second Coming.
Matthew 23:39, “For I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Baruch HaBa Beshem Adonai ברוך הבא בשם אדוני).
Messiah stated those famous words as He departed from the Temple and walked towards the Mount of Olives, the same location where He will place His feet on the earth at His Second Coming!
Zechariah 14:4, “And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east.”
Another interesting fact relates to the Jubilee Year in the Torah. In Leviticus 25, the Jubilee Year occurs every 50 years. In 1917, the Balfour Declaration was the first official step for Israel to become a nation again in 1948. In the Jubilee Year of 1967, fifty years from 1917, Israel recaptured Jerusalem as its capital. So, what can we expect in the next Jubilee Year which is 2017?
In the Jubilee Year of 2017, it will be very interesting to see what prophetic implications God has for Israel, as the last two Jubilee Years have resulted in restoration for the children of Israel. Make no mistake, Jerusalem is the apple of the Lord’s eye and it is where He dwells, so if the trend continues, we can expect another restoration for the children of Israel.
Zechariah 2:8, “For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.”
Joel 3:21, “For the Lord dwells in Zion.” Amen
