Happy New Year! As we journey into 2017 (Hebrew Calendar – 5777), I believe it is very imperative to understand what the Holy Bible proclaims as the “Jubilee Year.” With the wisdom and knowledge of this prophetic year, and also other Scriptures, we will gain great insight as to what could occur in the Jubilee Year of 2017, based on previous patterns. First, let us begin by exploring the Shemitah year, or every seventh (sabbatical) year, as the Jubilee year is directly correlated to it.
The Shemitah Year
Leviticus 25:1-5, “And the Lord spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land which I give you, then the land shall keep a sabbath to the Lord. Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather its fruit; but in the seventh year there shall be a sabbath (Shemitah) of solemn rest for the land, a sabbath to the Lord. You shall neither sow your field nor prune your vineyard. What grows of its own accord of your harvest you shall not reap, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine, for it is a year of rest for the land.”
God commanded the children of Israel to have a Shemitah (Sabbath) every seventh year, in order to allow His land to have a year of rest. Just as God commanded the children of Israel to work six days and rest on the seventh (Exodus 20:8-11), He also commanded them to work six years and rest on the seventh (Shemitah). The Shemitah (seventh) year is also called the “year of worship,” as the people were to proclaim that no material things, including business (money), trade, or any other carnal thing was exalted above God (Exodus 20:3-4). Furthermore, since God commanded the children of Israel to let the land rest in the seventh year, He would bless them three times the amount in the sixth year so that everyone would have enough to survive during the seventh year and the following two years (Leviticus 23:21). What a blessing!
The Shemitah pattern has incredible prophetic implications, as the earth will “work” for 6,000 years and “rest” on the 7,000th, which is Messiah’s 1,000 – Year reign (Millennial Reign – 7,000th – 8,000th ; The 8,000th year begins Eternity/New Jerusalem). Please note, from Adam to Messiah is 4,000 years, and from Messiah unto today is 2,000 years. We are about to enter the 7,000th year of rest (Millennial Reign). Amazingly, the Shemitah cycle is also directly correlated to Daniel’s 70th week, which is the Seven-Year Tribulation period, as it will begin and end on the Shemitah year.
The Jubilee Year
The Jubilee year is based on the Shemitah year, and the Lord proclaims that every seven Shemitah’s (7 x 7=49 years) ushers in the Jubilee Year, the 50th year.
Leviticus 25:8-17, “And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years. Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month (Tishri 10 – Yom Kippur); on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land. And you shall consecrate the fiftieth (50th) year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family. That fiftieth year shall be a Jubilee to you.”
In the Jubilee year, every 50th year, land and liberty were restored to the children of Israel, and everyone returned to his family possession. Indeed, it was the Year of Jubilee! What an awesome blessing! The Jubilee year is always proclaimed on the Hebrew date, Tishri 10 (October), which is the Feast of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement (Leviticus 23). This is a great example as to why it is very important to have a basic understanding of God’s calendar*, the Hebrew Calendar, as God’s major end of the age events will be fulfilled on His holy feast days (Feast of Trumpets, Feast of Yom Kippur, Feast of Tabernacles – Leviticus 23).
*The Feast of Trumpets
*The Feast of Yom Kippur
*The Feast of Tabernacles
Now, let us review the last two Jubilee years to understand the pattern of restoration with the nation of Israel, and to also discover if this pattern could occur again in 2017.
1917 Jubilee Year
Before the 1917 Jubilee year, the children of Israel had been scattered among the nations and the majority had not lived in the Promised Land since AD70, when the Roman Empire destroyed Jerusalem. Messiah prophesied about this event before His crucifixion and resurrection.
Matthew 24:2, Jesus said, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
Luke 19:41-44, ” Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”
In AD70, these prophecies were fulfilled. Also, Messiah prophesied that Israel would become desolate and the children of Israel would be scattered among the nations until the time of His second coming.
Matthew 23:38-39, “See! Your house is left to you desolate: For I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”
So, for the children of Israel (Jews) to proclaim, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord,” they have to be in Jerusalem when he returns to the Mount of Olives at His second coming (Zechariah 14:4).
1917 Jubilee Year – Balfour Declaration (Proclamation)
On November 5, 1914, during World War I, the British Empire declared war on the Ottoman Empire (Muslim) who controlled Jerusalem and occupied the Promised Land (Israel). On November 2, 1917, the United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour sent a letter to Walter Rothschild, who was one of the leaders of the British Jewish community. Rothschild submitted the declaration to the Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland. This declaration letter became known as the Balfour Declaration. In 1917, which was a Jubilee year, the Balfour Declaration became the first official step in fulfilling the 1948 prophecy (Isaiah 66:8).
In 1917, at the pinnacle of World War I, General Allenby of the British Empire captured a region of the Promised Land from the Ottoman Empire, ending four hundred years of Muslim control. As the war ended and the Ottoman Empire declined in power, the League of Nations divided the Promised Land between Israel and the Arabs. However, once the Balfour declaration was executed, the children of Israel were allocated approximately twenty percent of the land promised to them by God in the Abrahamic Covenant (Gen. 15), excluding Jerusalem. The remainder of the Promised Land was given to the Arabs. Please note, although the children of Israel will not inherit all of the Promised Land from God until Messiah returns for His second coming and millennial reign, twenty percent was a very small portion compared to what the Arabs received (eighty percent). Nevertheless, the 1917 Balfour Declaration (Jubilee Year) was the first official step for the children of Israel to regain control of the Promised Land in 1948, fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy.
Isaiah 66:8, “Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day (May 14, 1948)? Or shall a nation be born at once?”
1967 Jubilee Year – The children of Israel Recapture Jerusalem (Six-Day-War)
After the prophetic fulfillment of Israel becoming a nation again in 1948, which occurred because of the Balfour Declaration in the Jubilee year of 1917, a major event also occurred in the 1967 Jubilee year; The Six-Day-War, which concluded with the children of Israel recapturing and controlling the holy city of Jerusalem as its’ capital. Fifty years after the 1917 Balfour Declaration, in the Jubilee year of 1967, Israeli soldiers entered the Lion’s gate (Eastern gate) and recaptured Jerusalem as their capital for the first time in approximately 1,900 years! Israel defeated five countries in order to win the Six-Day War; Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon. These five countries had the additional support of Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Kuwait, Pakistan, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia, and the PLO. Nineteen short years after becoming a nation again, Israel conquered Jerusalem in the Six-Day War and rested on the Sabbath, fulfilling this prophecy on God’s prophetic timeline (Isaiah 66:8-9, Psalm 102:16-18). Only by God Almighty’s divine intervention and sovereign righteousness can a nation, who only had nineteen years to establish itself and train its own military, defeat all five of those countries. Hallelujah!
2017 Jubilee Year
Can we see the pattern of proclamation and restoration that occurred in the two previous Jubilee years of 1917 and 1967? What major event could be proclaimed or restored for the children of Israel in the Jubilee year of 2017? Before we explore this incredible possibility, let us discover an interesting parallel with Cyrus, king of Persia, and President Elect Donald J. Trump.
After the ancient Medo-Persian Empire conquered the Babylonian Empire (Daniel 5), God Almighty “anointed” Cyrus, a Gentile king of Persia, to proclaim a declaration to the children of Israel.
Ezra 1:1-3, “Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying, thus says Cyrus king of Persia: “All the kingdoms of the earth the Lord God of heaven has given me. And He has commanded me to build Him a house (Temple) at Jerusalem which is in Judah. Who is among you of all His people? May his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah, and build the house (Temple) of the Lord God of Israel (He is God), which is in Jerusalem.”
The Almighty anointed Cyrus and used him as a vessel for His divine, sovereign purpose and will (Isaiah 45:1-2). After the 70 year Babylonian captivity, God “stirred Cyrus’ spirit,” a Gentile king, to make a proclamation to the children of Israel to rebuild the Temple, fulfilling Jeremiah’s prophecy (Jeremiah 25:8-14).
Now, let us fast forward to 2016, with the rise of another Gentle king, Donald J. Trump, who overwhelming and unapologetically supports Israel. Clearly, with his incredible and unprecedented victory in the U.S. Presidential elections, God has “anointed” the President Elect for His divine and sovereign purposes for not only America, but for His heritage, His land, Israel. Please note, it is not by coincidence that Donald J. Trump has a Jewish son-n-law, who has become Trump’s most trusted confident. With that being said, several Bible scholars and prophecy teachers have proclaimed that Donald J. Trump has the “Cyrus anointing.” What is also interesting is the fact that Donald J. Trump is the 45th president of the U.S., and Isaiah 45 is the prophecy about Cyrus, king of Persia. So, if Donald J. Trump has the “Cyrus anointing” as many believe, then let us remember what Cyrus proclaimed to the children of Israel.
Ezra 1:2-3, “All the kingdoms of the earth the Lord God of heaven has given me.
If God has chosen Donald J. Trump and has girded him with the “Cyrus anointing,” then it is not partial, but full and complete. In other words, He will either fully have the anointing, or he will not. So, if there is a parallel with Cyrus and President Elect Trump, then what could occur in the Jubilee Year of 1917?
The proclamation of the Jewish Temple to be rebuilt! (Please note, one of the major events that has to occur before Messiah’s second coming and millennial reign is the restoration of the Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount (Mount Moriah).
In conclusion, the Year of Jubilee only occurs every 50 years, and it is a year of proclamation and restoration for the children of Israel. Also, in the previous Jubilee years (1917, 1948), there was a war that ended with a prophetic proclamation (1917), and a war that ended with a prophetic restoration (1967), respectively. If we take into consideration the pattern of the Jubilee years of 1917 and 1967, and if the pattern continues in 2017, then there could be a war which concludes with the proclamation of the Temple to be rebuilt. Assuredly, if there is one Gentile king in the world who has the fortitude and mettle to stand up to the world, including the U.N., to fulfill this prophetic event, it is President Elect Donald J. Trump.
